How Clean Your Hot Tub Filter
Hot tub filters are essential to a relaxing, worry-free experience — just as important as the jets themselves. Filters help keep your water clean and clear by trapping dirt and debris. Regular maintenance not only improves water clarity but also supports the overall performance of your spa.
If it's been more than a month since you last cleaned your filters, or you're seeing a FLO error on your hot tub control panel, this step-by-step video will walk you through the entire cleaning process.

Steps to clean your hot tub filter
Before you begin, gather the following supplies:
- Garden hose
- 5-gallon bucket
- Filter cleaner
- Towel
1. Turn off the power
Shut off power to your MasterSpas hot tub at the breaker. This ensures safety while you remove and clean the filters.
2. Remove the filters
Take the filters out of the spa. Many MasterSpas models include a unique EcoPur Charge filter. Set this filter aside for now and focus on cleaning the standard pleated filter first.
3. Rinse the pleated filter
Use a garden hose to spray between the pleats, removing dirt, debris and buildup.
4. Soak the pleated filter
Fill a 5-gallon bucket with water and add filter cleaner according to the manufacturer's instructions. Place the pleated filter in the solution and allow it to soak overnight for a deep clean.
5. Clean the EcoPur Charge filter
Rinse the EcoPur Charge filter thoroughly with a garden hose. Do not soak this filter in the cleaning solution.
6. Rinse and reinstall
Remove the pleated filter from the cleaning solution and rinse it thoroughly. Residual cleaner left in the filter may cause foaming once the spa is running again. Reinstall both filters and restore power to your hot tub.
