In this video, Ben and Mari go over some popular myths about swim spas so you can learn the truth about owning a pool alternative.

Swim spa questions that Ben and Mari answer:

  • Can you swim in a swim spa?
  • Is heating a swim spa expensive?
  • How fast does a swim spa heat up?
  • Do you really need a 50-amp hookup for a swim spa?
  • Are saltwater systems better?
  • Do I need a big backyard for a swim spa?

How much space do you need for a swim spa? It depends on the swim spa you choose and how you want the installation to look.

A swim spa by Master Spas is 8 feet wide and vary in length, from 11 feet to 19 feet. When planning for a swim spa, you need to have 3 feet on each side to allow for access to equipment.

But when you are comparing a lap pool versus a swim spa, the swim spa will take up less space and likely does not require any permits. Learn more about installing a swim spa in our Backyard Planning Guide!
