It\u2019s been three years since Michael Phelps took home six medals, five of which were gold, from Brazil. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the swimmer, arguably the greatest of all time, still loves the water \u2014 even if he\u2019s no longer competing professionally. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor me, it\u2019s different now than when I was training,\u201d Phelps says. \u201cI like getting in because it\u2019s peaceful for me to swim. I enjoy just being in the water.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phelps, who retired in 2016, says being in the water is a big part of who he is. But it\u2019s not just about exercising and improving his stroke. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q: How were you first introduced to the swim spa by Master Spas?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A: Master Spas introduced their top-performing swim spa to my coach and me in 2010. We were drawn to the Wave Propulsion System<\/a>as it allowed us the chance to create different types of water environments for training. One challenge was that the swim area needed to be deeper and longer for me to be able to train with all four of my strokes. Q: How do you use the swim spa now that you are retired?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I think we spend a lot of time talking about physical health, but it\u2019s really important to take care of your mental health, too. The water has become a retreat and a way to take time for me. What I love about the swim spa, which has an adjoining hot tub, is you have the chance to escape and unwind for the day. The warm water offers a place to take a deep breath and relax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
